For the past 400 years, the Bavarian hamlet of Oberammergau transforms itself into a stage for the "Passion of Christ," depicting the life and death of Jesus Christ. The play is performed by local residents and draws huge crowds at the outdoor theater. This event only happens every 10 years and is a bucket list item for many.
Tanglewood Music Festival
Tanglewood is located in the beautiful Berkshire Hills, between Stockbridge and Lenox, Massachusetts. Founded in 1937, the festival is operated by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. It is known as one of two summer music festivals representing the United States. While there, stop in at the treasured Norman Rockwell Museum and head north a short distance to delightfully stare at the rolling hills and vineyards of the Finger Lakes region of New York State.
